What is a Driveline Repair?
If your vehicle shudders during acceleration, it could be a sign of driveline trouble, like a loose U-joint or a faulty center bearing. Similarly, if you hear a loud clunk during shifting, it may be time to have the U-joints replaced. Roughness, clicking noises or a squeaking sound at low speeds may also be reasons for concern.
It is possible that these sounds indicate something other than driveline problems. But your best bet is to get an expert opinion. And Car-X Tire & Auto is happy to help.
Understanding how the driveline works…
The driveline is what turns your axles, and your axle is what turns your wheels. There are different types of drivelines depending on whether your vehicle has rear wheel drive, front wheel drive or four wheel drive.
The driveline connects to the transmission and differential through a series of universal joints. Most universal and CV joints are sealed and don’t require periodic lubrication. However, it’s extremely important to have them inspected every time your vehicle is up on a lift. Any crack or leak in the joint’s protective housing (or boot) can result in severe damage to your vehicle. A broken driveline component will allow the engine to run, but the vehicle may not move.
Your Car-X Man is a driveline expert. In fact, when it comes to anything under your vehicle, from transmission service to fluid replacement, Car-X will make sure your car is at its peak, for both performance and safety.
